The Church of St.Alphonsus Liguori in Rome: Home of the Original Icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Help
The Redemptorist Order in Rome was given custody over the original miracle working icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Help by Pope Pius IX in 1866. The icon was enshrined in the Church of Saint Alphonsus Liguori where it is still on display today. The Pope asked the Redemptorists to "...make her known throughout the world". The order has faithfully carried out this task. Copies were sent to Redemptorist houses in many countries, among them the United States where the first copy of the original icon sent to this country can be venerated in the Shrine in Boston.
